Throughout the history of mankind, three little words that put poets to the blank page, philosophers to the Agora and seekers to the Oracles; Who Am I
From the ancient Greek aphorism inscribed in the temple of Apollo, “Know Thyself”, to the Who’s rock anthem “Who are you?”, philosopher, phycologist, academics, scientist, artists, and politicians, have all tackle the same subject of identity. Their hypothesis is widely varied and lack of significant consensus. This is smart, creative people, but why is it so hard to come up with one significant answer?
One challenge certainly lies in the complexity of the concept of the persistence of identity. Which is you “Who”? The person you are today, five years ago or who you will be in fifty years in the future? And when is “Am”? Is it today, in this hour or only in this second? Furthermore, which aspect of you is “I’? Your physical body, your thoughts and feeling or your actions? The sea of abstract logic is certainly hard to tackle.
I would to put this question for you to answer because the real answer in a matter of identity is unquantified and can’t be conclude using experiments and theories but can only be determined by the one who is questioning it. Nobody knows themselves except for themselves.
To end , a famous philosopher once wrote: “ Little things that makes who you are the things that you can’t change; your personality at it’s deepest consent.”
